Research-based Strategies for a Student who Learns Differently?
Individual Treatment Plans are created to address specific obstacles for learning. The treatment plan acts as a map for building academic skills over time in reading, writing, spelling, and/or math. Each session devotes time for self-reflection by identifying strategies that are most effective and tracking progress (success!) over time.
Gentle, Responsive Instruction for a Struggling Student?
Many students struggle with academics without a formal diagnosis or learning difference. However, emotional well-being and stress management may still prove to cause difficulty in learning. Students are taught single-subject content to develop more ease with learning at school and to help gain the confidence to develop independence and self-advocacy skills. Relevancy is emphasized and fun games infused into sessions to boost student engagement and encourage student investment.
Inspiring Instruction for Homeschooler?
Homeschooling provides the flexibility to create individualized instruction based on each child’s strengths, interests, and educational needs. While lessons provide structure for skill-building, each session also includes games and real-life applications to build understanding and relevancy. Time may also be set aside for parent consultations and guidance in providing a comprehensive homeschool learning experience.
Student Advocacy and Family Support?
Having a child with learning differences can be extremely challenging. Understanding your child is the greatest tool as a parent. Families are given recommendations for help/treatment as well as strategies for coping at home. Family education often brings a new empathy for the child, and a fresh perspective for moving forward. Parents may also seek advisement in understanding psycho-educational reports and in the development of IEP or 504 plans.
“Candis spends quality one-on-one time with my child and helps her love learning. My daughter’s confidence in writing and reading has grown so much! She now writes for fun all of the time!”
